Andrea Serafini

Andrea Serafini (b. 1965 Agordo, Italy) studied: Accademia di Belle Arti of Venice, Italy (1994) and Fondazione Il Bisonte, Florence, Italy (1995). Selected group exhibitions include: 5th Guanlan International Print Triennial, Shenzhen, China (2015); 14th European Biennale for Graphic Art, Municipal Museum, Bruges, Belgium (2014) and International Biennial Print Exhibit, ROC, Taiwan (2014). Awards include: Purchase Prize, 4th Bangkok Triennale International Print and Drawing, Thailand (2015); Bronze Prize, International Print Biennial, ROC, Taiwan (2014); and 2nd Prize at International Competition for Graphic Arts, Florence, Italy (2000). He lives and works in Italy.

Serafini makes exquisitely drawn intaglio prints. In the series of construction sites, the buildings are obscured by scaffold and building materials. The artist says’ “I want to show a sense of transience by representing covered spaces which can be perceived through the interplay of transparency, light, shades and perspective.”
