Recent prizes include: The Gold Medal for Craft and Design from the National Eisteddfod of Wales (2014), short-listed for the Soho Sculpture Prize (2014) and long-listed for the Aesthetica Art Prize (2016). She lives and works in Herefordshire, UK.
Phillips is currently working with both porcelain and paper, producing small scale constructed sculpture and embossed collagraph prints. This ongoing series allows her to engage in a sense of continual transformation, whereby work gently evolves through process and time – subtle alterations of form and space are given a permanence beyond their intrinsic ephemerality. The artist says, “I am less interested in a deliberate sought out sense of beauty, of reaching an aesthetic conclusion, and more concerned with a potential that can be perceived through incompleteness. Capturing and isolating a fixed moment, whilst drawing an awareness to the process of reinvention and change.”
